“It’s no real secret that the genre of hazy IPA can have a tendency toward similarity within a brewery’s portfolio. The color and cloudy opacity often make it so that pours of different beers side-by-side look identical, and if certain recipe factors don’t jump out, the aromas and flavors can also seem very unilateral. With ‘Agents,’ we specifically tried to tweak the malt so that it could get a bump away from the more-pale-color goal that many of our hazy recipes end up having (despite some fairly significant differences in the grist). We brought in German Munich 10 malt to compliment the German Pilsen in the grist – it adds a little bump of color and a touch of light breadcrust/baked bread for that aforementioned differentiating factor. As far as inspiration for our name, several of us at Gnosis avidly enjoy the heavier genres of music, and like many breweries, get a kick out of weaving that into that side of the product.
