About this beer

Fact: you can’t stay down if you’re drinking Downside Up.  Starting with a majority-wheat base beer, we added pineapple, montmorency cherry, and vanilla to create a liquid pineapple upside-down cake that is pretty darn spot on.  See, you can’t even think about drinking cake without smiling, right?  If you get yourself some of these cans, do yourself a favor and gently roll and/or flip them to get the contents uniformly distributed before drinking.  We emphasize “gently” here – liquid cake does nobody any good when it spills out from being over-agitated 😉

“We love our fruited wheat beers, and it is especially rewarding for us to see people’s faces light up when they know we have Downside Up. It’s a rabid fan-favorite, and it makes the pains we go to in making it all the more worthwhile. We start by making a beer with a majority of white wheat malt, and while we have some hops for a very light bittering and balance, it is very much akin to what most would call a “wheatwine.” Once that beer is done, it becomes our perfect canvas upon which we can let brewer/owner Tony do his magic. Tony, as many know, is the brilliant mind behind Manic Meadery and their amazing meads, wines, and ciders – and if you know those beverages, you know the fruit game that makes them is second-to-none. And so it is with our fruited wheat beers, and with Downside Up – the pineapple, vanilla, and cherry are folded in with the big, wheaty base to create….well, liquited pineapple upside down cake! “
